Summer Program

Sutherland’s main goal of the summer associate program is to give you a realistic understanding of our firm and its practice. When you choose to join our program, your summer will include working alongside our highly regarded attorneys, serving influential individuals and dynamic companies, while learning our client service approach. By attending client meetings, hearings, trials, depositions and negotiations, you will receive valuable hands-on experience that compliments our formal training programs. We believe that these opportunities will help you build the foundation for a successful legal career.

While you spend the summer with us you will be assigned two advisors, a partner or counsel and an associate. Summer advisors act as your liaison at the firm, both professionally and socially. They are available to provide guidance with your work assignments, and aid in your integration with the firm. In addition, members of the Hiring Committee and other attorneys in the Firm are always available to assist and serve as unofficial advisors during the summer program. By matching you with experienced lawyers, you will be provided with the resources to excel at our Firm and have a rewarding summer. 

We also plan a variety of social events to maximize your Sutherland summer experience and give you the opportunity to get to know our attorneys outside of the work environment. You will enjoy getting to know your Sutherland colleagues at parties, sporting events and community service activities, as well as numerous informal gatherings throughout the summer.
